They'd begun referring to the person behind the messages as 'a monster,' and then it simply became 'Monster.' Monster was written about constantly in the Daily Mail, referred to on morning shows and whispered about in Tube stations and coffee shops. Everyone wanted to know who he was, what he might do next, and when the Met planned to catch him. John knew Lestrade was just as weary of hearing about Monster as he was.
