- I'm seeing a lot of what can be called "anti-sjw" freelance hate and I just want to say as a feminist I don't have issue with this video or what he's trying to say. I'm also seeing stuff about content /medium production in terms of the male gaze, which there are legitimate arguments for and against that. I guess where I stand is that I worry that women's sexuality is amplified while the rest of her is muted...consistently. I have no problem with displaying the female form as the same as a male form, but it seems a trend that the female form becomes amplified and the rest of the character's development takes the back seat in favor of aesthetics. Just a practical, surface-level opinion of mine. Not going to try and get into heavy theory here. Just lookin to chill out and enjoy content.

- Thanks Kara and I really appreciate your comment. It's never my intention to make anyone feel unwelcome on my channel and I truly do respect your opinion. In regard to the female characteristics being muted in male media I agree that this does seem to be the case but that this doesn't surprise me nor does it strike me as sexist. A story that is written for a male audience will often have more focus and characterisation on the male protagonist, just like a story written for a female audience will focus more on the female protagonist and all other characters are muted and more unrealistic in comparison. I think the best example of this are the older Disney movies like Cinderella and Snow White. The princes are nothing but pretty set pieces there to serve the story of the female protagonist. They have no character at all, but that's fine because they're not nearly as important as the main protagonist or the females that this type of story is focused towards. I'm not saying a story won't be improved by having more diverse characters all round just that I don't find anything sexist about making a story for a target gender and structuring most of the elements to appeal to that gender.
One of the causes for the objections about this is that many traditionally male media is becoming more popular with women liking comic books. But it's really the comic book movies not actual comic books which are still a more male consumed media. marvel have restructured most of their main character to be more appealing to a female audience and their sales have plummeted because it's still men who mostly read comic books. I don't see much justification for women to complain that male consumed media is too male focused, what else would they expect? Just like I wouldn't complain about female romance novels. Each are made to appeal to the target gender which I see as perfectly fine.
