Of course, as it is reliably wont to happen every single time he has ever felt such contentment with his situation, it is immediately ruined for him. This time, it is Anthony who makes himself the culprit by continuing, “See? I knew you love me.”

His racing heart becomes an uncomfortable flutter, the twitching of a frightened bird, its claws catching in the inside of his ribcage, leaving stinging scratches in his lungs as acidic panic rises within him.
