In the aftermath of the Avengers Civil War Tony was left with half a team and the fallout of Steve's actions to deal with.
Despite being a Futurist, he couldn't have expected the arrival of Thor however, nor the refugees that accompanied him following the destruction of Asgard.
He also couldn't have predicted that he would fall for a certain raven haired Trickster, or that they would find solace in each others arms.
But hey, life is full of unexpected surprises.
