Steve could only stare at their hands atop the table, Nancy’s having grabbed his soon after they’d sat down. Her hand was wrapped around his fingers, his thumb brushing occasional reassuring strokes across the back of hers.
It didn’t mean anything, he knew. It was just a sign of comfort at most, a reminder that she wasn’t alone. And he was okay with that.
