Soulmate AU. When every child is born they are born with a mark on their chest. The mark is the symbol of their soulmate. When a person sees their mark they recognize it as theirs. A wizard can also soulgaze and recognize their soulmate.

Logically, he knew he had a soulmat, but because of the uncertainty of his survival he never went looking for them. It would hurt less if they never met him when he finally died a bloody death.
John had always been fascinated by the mark on his chest. He knew about soulmates, who didn't. But he thought this particular mark was special. That it was different from the others he'd seen before. A dark furred wolf with dark eyes behind it seemed to almost be smoke. It was the animal of free will. There was never a doubt of if he would meet his soulmate. Just a matter of when.
