After the war, Hermione was left in the dust of a previous life and forced, alongside Harry, into the limelight and media frenzy of being heroes. Crookshanks passed during the last year of the war and now, only as they return to Hogwarts, does she have the time to grieve her beloved cat. Until he shows up, quite unexpectedly, and brings with him the keys to unravelling another threat against Hogwarts - one that will push her closer to certain controversial figures, and away from old friends.
Severus never expected to live through the war. Between a certain know-it-all chit trying to be helpful, and a mysterious necromancer threatening Hogwarts, it seems like there's no rest for the wicked. Cooperating with Granger, however, swiftly turns from a chore into something too good or terrifying to acknowledge.
