Your Darkest Voice (смешанная)

I wrote this story long ago as part of the Harry Potter fandom. While I did not believe that J.K. Rowling was a moral beacon of light at the time, I did not realize that she was was as hateful and cruel as it turns out she is.
My fics were always poking a bit of fun at the lack of inner life provided to most HP characters, which I assumed was caused by some mixture of writing inexperience and a casual disregard for any character other than Harry. I also figured this was why fatness was a characteristic of evil, why Jewish stereotypes were applied to goblins, and why enslaved creatures were dumb as toast, loved their masters, and basically deserving of enslavement. I thought it was lazy thoughtlessness. I wish I had taken these warnings more seriously. These stories started out as so cartoonish and twee that it wasn't too difficult to pass some of this off as clueless and unfortunate rather than willfully hateful, but as time has gone on, the original stories now stand as evidence for the author's lack of empathy for people who are different than she is. I learned to believe people when they tell me who they are.
Fandoms are always cultures of their own, and what we do with stories is something we own, not something we owe to their creators. J.K. Rowling cannot claim credit for the Harry Potter fandom or anything we created. My stories were never written in admiration for J.K. Rowling, but out of admiration for the Harry Potter fandom. I stand by what I've written, but I dislike being connected to J.K. Rowling, even by having her name on my AO3 profile, and having it convey that I was, or still am, a fan.
So while I am happy to have you read this fic and know that it was me who wrote it, I also want to be clear that I do not support J.K. Rowling and her hateful campaign against trans people.
