Severus didn't die, surprise! Neither did a bunch of people. So he's not special. No surprises there; no one's ever put him first.
He goes on with his life, the only way he knows how. Finally able to slowly carve a corner of his own in this blighted isle. Then one day, someone arrives at his doorstep, bringing with him an entire raft of past stories.
On Harry's part, he's tired of being special and tired of other people's expectations. He only wants to know about Snape's past relationship with his dad, James, which he inadvertently glimpsed in among the memories about Lily.
