| Daniil keeps his mark hidden and shows no one. He could not remember a time when it didn’t ache, as if an invisible thread kept on trying to tug him in the direction of its pair. Sometimes he’ll pause in the mirror when he’s getting dressed to look at it and trace its lines. But he isn’t a child anymore, thinking about soulmarks and what they mean. He doesn’t wonder anymore if his other half is kind, or pretty, or clever. He had grown too old for fairytales. |
