It’s apparent in the way he can’t accept affection, can’t accept praise of any kind, and most of all it’s apparent in the way he keeps his Lan friends at a safe distance. Jiang Cheng isn’t even sure if he should call them friends, because Jin Ling certainly complains more about them than he talks well about them. And it’s all Jiang Cheng’s fault. He failed him as an uncle, raised Jin Ling like his father and mother raised Jiang Cheng, with all the flaws and faults he himself experienced in his childhood. |
