| Dichot performs an act of magic to save some fellow serfs, instinctively, without knowing how. Terrified that he's a changeling, but reluctant to kill him as they know they should, the others tie him up and leave him for the wizard. It's not an act of mercy, not really. They all know what happens to the children given to the wizard — what happens to them in the end, anyway. But the wizard isn't there anymore. Three years ago, he was killed by two of his captives. There's still a very powerful mage in the tower. It's just that she's not at all what Dichot expects. |
