| He wraps a hand around the boy's too-skinny wrists, trying to be the softest handcuff he can be, desperate to stop him from hurting himself further. The boy throws himself against his grip so hard his bones creak as Clark rolls them over, trying to pin him down as gently as possible. To Clark's horror, he can feel the harsh lumps of old breaks under the fragile skin where the boy has healed w...>>rong. "You're going to hurt yourself —" he says desperately. The boy screams at him in answer, a single, wordless shriek of rage and fear. The strength seems to leave him quickly. Clark's surprised he had this much to begin with. His voice dies off to a weak moan, and he slumps back against the floor, small, fragile chest heaving. His blue eyes are unfocused. His face is familiar. | Robin dies. Tim isn’t a little kid anymore. He understands that people - most people - die rather easily, sooner or later. But Robin isn’t most people. Robin was supposed to be magic. Like Tim. Or: Tim's mother passes down more than just a sharp wit and a strong sense of independence, and the batfam are under some severe misapprehensions. |

| "Hey," Jason says, poking his head in through the door, making sure his body is angled so that there's no way the boy inside will be able to see Bruce. That's as far as he gets before he falters. The boy inside the dim-lit cell is tucked as far back into the corner of the cot as he can get, scrawny limbs wrapped around himself like the curled husk of a spider. His teal eyes are locked on...>> Jason, but he doesn't move — not even a flinch. He's as perfectly frozen as a bird in the brush as a hound sniffs closer. Jason swallows, his throat abruptly so tight it's hard to breath. He's not sure either of them are. The boy's eyes flick just a fraction past him, to the open cave beyond. One of them is surrounded by a dark bruise. Jason steps cautiously into the cell, closing the door behind him, and watches his own eyes dim as his escape route closes. |

Just How Long I’ll Love You (джен)1 09.01.2025

| There’s a crime scene board set up off to one side. Bruce wanders over to examine it while Batman goes about preparing the tests he’ll want to complete to make sure Bruce isn’t going to tear the fabric of spacetime apart. He vaguely remembers this case. It was already a cold case even by the time Dick arrived, a murder whose trails had gone nowhere. It was one of the files he’d dusted off and...>> given to Tim to practice his skills. He hums approvingly as he studies the board. Tim’s getting close - once he finds the witness Bruce had overlooked the first time, he’ll have the lead he needs to crack the case. Then he frowns, touching one of the photos of the building. It’s not one of the original crime scene photos, nor one of the ones Bruce himself had taken when the crime was fresh. Tim must have gone himself to take them after Bruce gave him the case. Pride sparks in his chest, twisted with shame. “Have you looked at this?” he asks, raising his voice enough for his younger self to hear him over by the monitors. Batman grunts, glancing over and then away again. “It’s a cold case,” he says. “Robin’s been working on it.” “I know that,” Bruce responds. “Have you looked at it?” |

| The first letter arrived right to Tim's desk. He didn’t think much of it at first. It was a plain white thing, a tidy little card tucked unobtrusively in amongst the stack of memos and reports from other departments that his secretary had left on his desk. He spent several minutes getting settled before he even really glanced at it. Finally, he began scanning his stack, zeroing in on the...>> card only because it looked more interesting than a memo. The cardstock was good quality. It landed in his palm with a satisfying schlak. The handwriting on the card was… odd. Neat, perfectly legible, but shaky - like a child anxiously practicing their letters. It was so nice speaking with you the other day, it read. I hope you’ll make time for me again sometime soon! It was punctuated with a little crooked smiley face that had been crossed out and redrawn, too carefully to look natural. The eyes were perfect, ballpen circles. |

| Bruce wakes with a snort and a crick in his neck. Wincing, he picks his twinging neck up slowly, blinking grit out of his eyes. The tv is still on, flickering in the otherwise dark room. “Is it possible… that aliens are responsible for the tragic wreck of the Titanic?” a narrator is asking. Tim is still dead weight across his legs. Bruce can feel a damp patch on his sweatpants where...>> he’s drooled on him. Bruce digs his phone out of his pocket, careful not to disturb him. 4:32am. Fuck. Tim was due to be woken up for a concussion check over three hours ago. “Tim,” he murmurs, rough with sleep. “Wake up, bud.” He shakes him gently. When he doesn’t stir, he shakes him again, harder, sighing softly - Tim always is dead to the world on the rare occasions he actually sleeps. “Tim,” he repeats, louder, a normal speaking volume. He tugs on his shoulder, rolling him towards Bruce. There’s no resistance. Tim’s head lolls. |

| He presses further into the younger boy’s space. “Let’s get one thing straight, Replacement,” he snarls lowly, and he knows his eyes are glowing an awful, predatory green. “I am very dead. And if I have anything to say about it, Batman isn’t ever going to be happy again.” His face is tight with pain, but he’s doing a valiant job at controlling his ragged breathing, his blood a steady drip dr...>>ip drip onto the tile between them. His eyes meet Jason’s unflinchingly, and Jason can see the green glow reflected in them. He expects begging, bargaining, even some of that trademarked Robin sass that Dick seems to have passed along with the mantle. “Who did this to you, Jason?” Day. 3 - STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES BUT… taunting | insults | “Who did this to you?” |
