| Nothing particularly remarkable happens to lead to Arthur being stabbed, except for how it shouldn’t be possible at all. The sharp sound of a sword against chainmail rings in Arthur’s ear just as his breath punches out of him. There’s a soft noise of satisfaction from behind that sends a bolt of irritation through Arthur as he staggers from whatever blow knocked him off kilter; he tries to find his balance so he can wipe off whatever smarmy look has probably stolen across the bandit’s face. And then the pain hits. |
