the long wait (слэш)

In one universe, Albus Dumbledore meets a bully named Tom Riddle and set his wardrobe on (fake) fire, starting an enmity that will shape the wizarding world for decades to come.
In another universe, where one's soul takes the shape of an animal, Albus, led by his daemon Nimue, reconsiders. Perhaps it would be better, wiser to get to know the boy before punishing him?
Or, what would have happened if Dumbledore had really tried to help Tom Riddle?
