Mickey likes that people think of him as dangerous and are careful around him. It made him feel safe, strong, and in control of his life.
With Ian, it was different. He enjoyed being able to relax, speak his mind, and still get soft hands. Fuck offs were traded for I love yous. Ian made him feel worth something, even when no one else saw it.
Ian likes that people think of him as kind and expect him to have a level of patience. He was bipolar, he was known for being erratic. When he was able to control himself and help others, he felt confident.
With Mickey, it was different. He didn't just feel confident, he felt adored. He felt important and valuable. He felt loved.
They saw nothing more important than each other.
