AU: Soul mates communicate by singing aloud. One person can hear the other person any time they sing. If a mate sings in front of their match, they can immediately identify each other. However, most matches will never meet. (Yes it's a song fic, sorry I saw this on Tiktok and wanted some winter warmth.)
Bucky stopped singing two years ago after suffering at the hand of the Ten Rings and losing his arm. Steve's match went silent two years ago in the middle of a song.
They meet through friends of a friend and find companionship in each other as the winter holidays drag on. Their connection is instant, Bucky's healing process less so.
