Rain didn’t stop. He disappeared into the night, blood slick on his hands, lungs burning, heart hammering.
He doesn’t look back.
He can’t.
By the time he finally slows, crouched in the dark and shaking, the mask is firmly in place.
He thinks of Phayu. Of the weight at his throat that is now gone.
Rain presses his hand to his mouth, biting back a sound that threatens to break free.
I’m sorry, he thinks desperately over and over. Please, forgive me.
He doesn’t go to Sky’s dorm. He doesn’t call for help. He recognized the men. He wouldn’t put any of the people he loves at risk.
