“What are you thinking about?”
Shepard blinks and then grins. “Are you using that,” she wiggles her fingers in the air over their heads, popping an eyebrow teasingly, “telepathic mumbo jumbo on me right now?”
Liara’s pause and slight frown tells Shepard that the translator must be struggling with that particular turn of phrase. After a moment she rolls her eyes. “Melding is not ‘telepathic,’ Shepard. It’s a joining of consciousnesses that—”
Oh, it’s her lecture voice. Shepard leans in and kisses the rest of the no doubt lengthy explanation out of her mouth, before she can really get going. “A joke,” she explains, pulling back.
“How strange,” Liara says, lips beginning to quirk upward despite the flatness of her voice. “In Asari culture, ‘jokes’ must be humorous.”
“Smart ass,” Shepard accuses and kisses her again.
