Claire Redfield returns home from work and notices that her young neighbor, Sherry Birkin, hasn't been seen in days. Concerned by the silence and the empty house, Claire tries to contact Sherry’s parents but gets no answer. She decides to go to the Raccoon City Police Department for help.
At the station, she meets her friend Leon Kennedy, who searches the system and finds a missing person report for Sherry filed three days ago by a neighbor. Claire is outraged that nothing has been done since. The case was assigned to the Special Cases Division, led by Jill Valentine — someone Claire clearly dislikes.
A tense confrontation unfolds between Claire and Jill, with Claire accusing her of not taking Sherry’s disappearance seriously. Jill defends her work, while Claire threatens to investigate on her own. Chris Redfield, Claire’s brother, arrives and tries to calm things down, but Claire refuses to back off, determined to find Sherry herself.
