Peace has begun to acquire a bureaucracy.
A commission arrives to review the unresolved consequences of the war. Testimony is collected. Records are examined. Zuko tries to preserve reconciliation while foreign representatives press for answers he cannot easily provide.
Azula remains confined, but she is no longer irrelevant.
Questions once kept outside the palace are placed before her because no one else understands the old state as well as she does. Beyond the palace, resentment gathers around broken promises, lost prestige, and the suspicion that peace has become another name for submission.
Grievance begins to consolidate in her name.
As the Commission falters, its consequences reach beyond the Fire Nation. Aang, caught between friendship and duty, begins to see that trust in Zuko is not the same as balance.
The Pitch is the second book of Azula: Fire Lord Forever, a long-form political tragedy about power, memory, and the need to be necessary.
