Dumbledore tries to kill both Severus and Harry, however they are mates to each other so his plan back fires on him.
In this alternate timeline, Harry Potter is eighteen during the Triwizard Tournament. Hogwarts provides an optional three-year advanced program after the ordinary seventh year, and Harry entered the Tournament during his first advanced year. Draco Malfoy and Neville Longbottom are also eighteen. All three are legal adults before any mate bond or romantic relationship manifests.
The coercive potions and memory charms used by Dumbledore remain violations of Harry's and Severus's consent. Their mate bond does not turn those acts into consent, and neither man treats the manipulation as the beginning of a freely chosen romance.
