Sometimes the best way to take power away from others is to give that power to someone else. Harry knows that he cannot escape his fate by taking it into his own hands. He is ill prepared to deal with such an action, however when the opportunity came knocking, he knew who he could give his fate to and be at least satisfied with the result, if not happy.
