A decade following the end of the second war Harry and Snape's lives are once again threatened by bounties offered to assassins willing to go up against them. The bounties have been put forth by a secretive authority looking to reignite the violence and bloodshed created by Voldemort, something neither Harry nor Snape can allow to happen. When it becomes clear that the Ministry - or at least important members of it - are involved in the plot to kill Harry and Snape, they're suddenly left to fend for themselves, while also trying to discover the true meanings behind the attacks and protect those who cannot protect themselves.
