He didn’t see the blonde head in the Entrance Hall either, where he was too caught up with his friends to notice the boy staring contemplatively across the circle from him. He didn’t notice the boy try to catch his attention, with a small wave when Harry was looking around the Hall; he didn’t notice when the boy looked down, a mixed set of emotions crossing his face as he did.
Harry only noticed him when they were standing in the Great Hall, when Professor McGonagall was reading out names and the Sorting Ceremony was already well underway. Susan had gone to Hufflepuff, just like her aunt and most of her family, and Ron was shifting his weight beside him in both nervousness and boredom.
“Dursley, Dudley!” Professor McGonagall called out, and Harry snapped to attention.
