She felt a kind of hollowed-out that made her feel full and the world feel distant. The air was thin and she was only made of brittle, dry balsa wood, a matryoshka shell with no more dolls inside.
It was the kind of feeling only generated by sustaining yourself with rage for two weeks, then failing completely to do anything to change the situation.
Somehow, the closed, empty coffins onstage were hard to look at. She knew they were empty—Vanish didn’t leave bodies to be found. So why did Ochako feel sick looking at them?
