When Draco was a boy, he tried to catch the sun. He lined a basket with small mirrors and praised his cleverness as he watched the light dancing in the trap he’d made. Then, the sun set, and the night stole his prize. He tried again and again, but never managed to hold the light for longer than a day.
Sometimes he feared it was the same with him and Hermione. That it was just a matter of time before the sun set for them, leaving him in a world of shadows. That he'd be stuck weeding a field of endlessly growing dark thoughts until they finally overtook him.
