The frustrating thing of it is that Liv can’t even pinpoint exactly what’s changed between them, only that something fundamental has shifted. Gone are the early morning walks into work and their lunchtime coffee breaks, their afterwork drinks at Forlini’s. Also gone are the occasional light touches—a comforting hand at her elbow, the small of her back, fingers lightly brushing against her shoulder as they pass in the hallway—and the kind, gentle smiles that had seemed to be directed only to her.
Once Liv notices it, the widening rift between them is all she can think about.
