It’s a well known fact that when Velaryons touch sea water their legs transform into a seahorse tail, and they grow gills. It was the reason why the Velaryons had chosen a seahorse as their emblem. So it shouldn’t have been a surprise that Vaemond Velaryon would use that to his advantage in the hearing with the King.
