“Don’t flatter yourself, Detective.  You’re only here due to process of elimination.”
“Process of elimination?”
“Yes.  Fin always controls the music, and where we stop to eat.  Rollins vents about her sister and her mother to no end.  And as for Amaro, I just don’t like him very much.  But you, Carisi, I don’t know you well enough yet to be certain that you’ll irritate me.”
“Oh.  Thanks, I guess?  To be honest, I assumed you asked for me because I’m in law school, so we could talk about legal stuff on the way.”
“Good god, I forgot you’re the one who wants to be a lawyer.”  Barba gave a heavy sigh as he shuffled papers in the case file.  “I should have stuck with Rollins’ family drama.  Better the devil you know.”

It's not easy being the new detective on the squad. But some days, things look like they might just work out. Or: Barba and Carisi take a road trip to Greenhaven.
