When Loki and Thor are killed in an attack on the markets they were visiting, those on Asgard are left to mourn their passing. But the Jotun wield clever magic and the two princes are less dead than they appeared. Trapped at the mercy of their captors, they must work together to escape impossible odds, while Fandral and Sif's search for revenge turns into a search for two men who might somehow still be alive.
