| On Ember Island, after yet another argument with Mai, Zuko broods alone on the beach. His sister comes to join him, and things spiral out of control between them. This little one-shot is actually a spin-off of a WIP I’m currently writing, "Dangerous Games", whose events take place seven years after the story told here. Consider it a prequel. |

| In an Canon Divergence where Aang never succeeded to defeat Ozai: Fire Lord Ozai has just died. His son, Zuko, having been stricken with betrayal years before for joining the Avatar’s ranks, and his daughter, Azula, having been sent away soon after for mysterious reasons, questions arise about the succession. Considering himself too old, Iroh has refused the throne. The Fire Sages ther...>>efore have no choice but to return the banished prince and princess to the palace in order to elect the new Fire Lord between the two of them. Azula and Zuko, seeing each other for the first time in seven years, decide to fight for the throne by playing a game as cruel as it is dangerous. When hate and desire rub shoulders, destruction and fire are never far. (Azula is 22, Zuko 24) Freely (very freely) inspired by the 18th century epistolary novel "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, which inspired several movies, included the teenage movie "Cruel Intentions". |
