| The second Pete calls home from the diamond auction to report they’ve found Porsche, Chan can tell something bad is happening. “When are they coming back?” he demands. His skin is itching with the need to have Kinn behind bulletproof steel doors and a small but well-armed militia instead of out in the open. “They’re not,” Pete says, and there’s that strained note in his voice that lets Chan...>> know something else is happening. “Porsche puked. K’Kinn is cleaning him up.” “He’s what?” Chan asks. Pete doesn’t answer, but Chan can feel his uncomfortable silence down the line. “For fuck’s sake.” “Yessir,” Pete agrees. Chan checks his watch, a feeling like a stone settling in his gut. He doesn’t know why, but he doesn’t trust Kinn with this kid. He wants Porsche home safe so Chan can get him to medical and tear him a new asshole in the morning. -- Or: Chan has more feelings on Kinn's bad behaviour than he would have expected, and for a lot longer than he would have guessed. |

He remembers sitting by the front door planter and smoking, convinced he was going to bleed out, and the med team who rushed out to pull him into surgery just in time. He remembers brief flashes, rolling through the clinic and noting the water st...>>ain on the ceiling, vaguely hoping that his niece would be able to get a good rate on the foreign exchange for his estate and that the wire fees wouldn’t be expensive. He lies still with his eyes closed, taking stock of his surroundings. He can hear the machines and another person breathing. He’s not sure if it’s a bodyguard - it might also be one of the boys, probably Tankhun. If Khun is sitting with him, there aren’t too many casualties, but if it’s a bodyguard - He lets his eyes slit open. The person in the chair next to him is Kim. That’s a good sign. Or: Chan lives. This makes some things simpler, and others more complicated. |
