| As Darcy returns to the kitchen to collect the remaining mugs, she catches his eye and gives him an encouraging smile. In response Loki’s lips curl upward involuntarily, the desire to kiss her senseless sending a pang of longing through his chest. Forcing his attention back to the matter at hand, Loki finds Fandral appraising him shrewdly. “You know this is madness, my friend,” he warns, genuine sympathy adding salt to his lacerating words. “Better to end this quickly.
