| Once upon a time, Tim Drake was Robin. And he was 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥. But he wasn't chosen. And that's fine, okay? It was a delicate situation, he understood that then and he understands it now. He doesn't hold it against Bruce, or Dick, or anyone after him who benefited from the Batman that he fixed. It's just, he hadn't realized how many things he lost out on while fixing Batman. The ice cream just seems to be the final straw. |

| Tim Drake is a planner. He's clever, he's detail oriented, and he always follows through. He became Robin to help Batman heal, so when a better way to do that presents itself, Tim plans. Tim's first few plans don't exactly work out like he'd hoped, but that's okay. He planned for that too. |

| Tim goes to Titans Tower that day on Bruce's orders, to get away from Gotham and the Red Hood. Jason goes to Titans Tower that day of his own volition, to get to Robin. Neither of them expect their trip to San Francisco to end the way it does. *** “This is because he won’t kill the Joker?” Tim’s voice is a hoarse whisper, so soft he’s not even sure Jason heard him. Tim lifts hi...>>s head, a steely determination in his eyes, and glares straight down the barrel of the gun. Suddenly, he’s struck by the petty, vindictive urge to just be mean, and if he’s going to die anyway, he may as well give in. “You’re no better than he is.” He spits out, jaw clenched. For the umpteenth time that night, there’s a fresh bloom of pain on Tim’s body, this time across his cheekbone as Jason’s gun comes down hard against it. “Don’t you dare compare me to Batman.” There’s fury in Jason’s voice, and satisfaction curls in Tim’s gut. “I’m not.” |

| Gotham is a lawless land. Crime and corruption run rampant on the streets, even despite the best efforts of Batman and Robin. However, there is one rule that every Gothamite knows to be true. However bad you think it is right now, it can, and will, get worse. Tim is getting a first hand look at that rule right now as he finds himself staring down the barrel of Red Hood's gun. The men who had been chasing him crown the entrance to the alley, and Tim can feel their hungry stares on his back. One day, he's going to learn how to listen when Bruce says to stay home. |

| As far as birthdays go, Tim's 15th birthday ranks pretty high on his list, top three at least. Sure his parents skipped out last minute and Red Hood shot and tried to kill him, but that first part is normal and that second part means that Tim got to hang out with Jason Todd for his birthday. Maybe he should reevaluate his rankings, because hanging out with his childhood hero definitely boosts this birthday to top two, and it's not two. |
