| “Ooh, like that guy in a horror movie!” he interjects, fully sitting up now. “When he wakes up from a nightmare and then bam! Spots the monster in the bathroom mirror or something, because he never woke up for real and he’s still in the nightmare.” “Exactly!” Donnie beams and Mikey – despite how abso-super-lutely and straight up horrifying this theory is – gives himself a second to feel a litt...>>le proud he figured it out. “Great,” Raph groans. “So we’re the idiots in a horror movie. Just great.” - when you can't be sure whether you're truly awake and the nightmares keep turning worse, it's up to mikey to save his brothers. but for that, he has to wake up first. or, darkness within but with an extra serving of grief |

| " In Raph’s arms, Donnie stirs. “What… what does he mean violent transformation?” he asks, in a voice so low Raph barely hears it. But he does. He kind of wishes he didn’t. “Uhh… It’s a long story.” He carefully rubs his brother’s shell and it’s wrong. It’s wrong and rough and raw and Donnie’s scutes twist in unrecognizable patterns under his fingers. Raph keeps rubbing his shell comfortingl...>>y and rooting himself in the desperate hope that it’ll be back to normal with time and their next shedding. “Tell ya when we get home, okay?” " - after his secondary mutation, donnie's recovering. everyone's unsteady and on edge, home is not home, and raph... he's handling it, okay? |
