Написала комментарий к видео, где разоблачали "фейковых полиглотов", которые утверждают, что говорят на том или ином языке после короткого периода обучения, хотя лепят ужасные грамматические и лексические ошибки, сохраню:

I don't agree with the idea of this video :( There are different ways to count languages one speaks, and setting the bar quite high is only one approach, not all that is out there. If you learn a language for two weeks and have some results, they are yours, you can claim them and say you speak some of that language. If you have lived in the country for a couple of years and feel that you get by, but wouldn't be able to hold a highly intelligent conversation, you don't need to focus on what you can't: celebrating what you can is absolutely fine. If you have mastered a language really well, first, well done! There are few who get that far, and surely it took a lot of talent and effort. Second, do you really need to push those below you down? Why don't you elevate yourself instead? That's where you belong. You can say: "I am a polyglot. One foreign language that I speak really well, two not bad but I'd like to see them improved, and in three I'm just a beginner so far." It's as valid and interesting as "I'm a polyglot, I learn languages for fun, and I am at the intermediate level in five."
The only way to master a language completely is to have lived your entire life in it, and no one does it, not even bilinguals. You have some experiences in one language, some experiences in another, and together they make up a whole picture of you. Instead of setting yourself an almost impossible goal of speaking a language perfectly, it's much more productive to celebrate any progress that you have.
Finally, one thing that irked me in the video was the attitude to mistakes. Again, everyone makes them, even native speakers. There's no such thing as "horrible" grammar. All mistakes humans make when learning a foreign language make perfect sense, it's a beautiful process of having a set brain configuration and acquiring a new one. If you don't stop learning the language past those two weeks of the learning challenge, you'll see them disappear one by one: the victory of cognition!
