The present volume is a further instalment of a Calendar of certain documents selected from the class formerly known as Escheats, or Inquisitions post mortem.

It deals with the years 29 to 35 Edward I . The calendar is now complete to the end of the 9th year of Edward III.

In connexion with the doubts that have been cast in the English Historical Review and elsewhere on the credibility of statements alleged to have been made on oath at inquisitions for proof of age, attention may be called to numbers 239 and 240 in this volume, where several of the same jurors occur. Their ages as stated in the two inquisitions are inconsistent and the evidence of at least one of them is contradictory.
