“Mister Malfoy, we’re calling to let you know there’s been an accident. The baby is fine, but Miss Granger has suffered severe injuries and is being held stable in a magically induced coma.”

The bottom of my stomach dropped out. Hermione had disappeared from my life over a year ago. My mind was racing over thoughts of the woman who’d broken my heart when I finally heard the words the healer had used. “I’m sorry, did you say baby?”

“Yes sir. Leo Granger.”
