In legends.

Old, half-forgotten stories meant to be told to children at bedtime.

It’s not meant to be lying on the sand before her feet, vulnerable, exposed, wheezing for breath under the relentless midday sun.

Rey crouches down curiously.

She can’t see its face, hidden under a wild mane of black hair—but she knows very well that the face will not be that of a normal human’s. Or so she’s heard.

It belongs, after all, to a monster.
