Blinded and kept on show in a circus, Erik has no hope of escape. Until the night when the widowed Vicomtesse Christine de Chagny hears him sing. Lonely after Raoul’s death and shunned by Parisian high society due to her humble origins, Christine is spellbound by the sound of a beautiful voice. When she finds that the singer is being kept against his will as a circus freak, she determines to free Erik, and offers him a job as her resident musician.
