Vader has been in service to Darth Sidious since he was nine years old. He wonders if his freedom will always mean blood on his hands. He wanted to help people once. Padmé has been a champion against galactic imperialism since she was queen at fourteen. She has never stopped being haunted by the sacrifice given to liberate her planet. They stood apart like this, one in the light and the other in the dark, until the schism rifting across the galaxy forces them to meet on a stage set millenia ago.
