No one would approve of his plan. Which is why he tells no one of it. With Stormbreaker’s blade, he tears open a rift in the darkness. And he can see Thanos gripping his brother’s neck, and his own useless form restrained beyond. He reaches out and slices Thanos’s arm off at the wrist. He groans in pain, and before anyone can truly comprehend what’s going on, Thor grabs Loki back through the tear and watches it seal up again like a wound already healing.
Back on the ship, he just spends a long time weeping into Loki’s shoulder who pats him placatingly on the back, making comments like “Why are you fat?” and “Your eye’s back,” and “What’s with the raccoon?”
Later, as they begin their journey back to Midgard, they sit down and Thor tells him about everything that’s happened in the last five years. And when he tells him that he’s been dead this whole time, Loki just looks at him with an expression that Thor can’t quite interpret.
