| Mikey always liked this part of their patrols, when they would stay out just long enough to catch a glimpse of those vibrant colors. His eyes would be glued to the skyline where they should’ve been glued to the roof in front of them as they leaped across buildings. He would stumble and laugh when he jumped wrong while distracted, let his brothers gripe and moan about how ninja don’t watch sunrises...>>, but his eyes would always drift back to that gorgeous view. Not tonight, though. As much as he would love to watch the horizon, his head was killing him, and it took all of his concentration just to keep his legs moving as he and his brothers sprinted from building to building. | For a turtle that had such little faith in the afterlife and the beyond and ghosts and ghouls and spirits, Donatello sure does linger a lot. Mikey finds it sad, though he doesn’t ever admit to it out loud. He’ll just find Donnie standing at the edges of the room, like he isn’t sure what to do with himself, hands twisting and feet shuffling and Mikey will watch him and smile and call out to hi...>>m like he’s really actually there. Raph and Leo will often accompany him together, rarely does he ever find them apart which he finds a touch ironic. Two brothers that spent a majority of their time at each other’s throats were now attached at the hip. Mikey finds that nice. He likes that whatever conflict that was always lit between them in life had seemingly fizzled out in the life beyond that. He hopes that wherever it is they are now that they’re okay and that they’re happy. |

| The darkened woods around him suddenly burst open in dizzying white lights. Michelangelo is exposed to their glare, chasing away the shadows he has been taught to rely on so much. “There! I see it!” With a cry, Michelangelo tries to pull back into the safety of the night’s shadows. It proves to be an impossible task when humans are beginning to circle around him with their flashlights and ...>>guns all pointing towards him. Get away. Hide. Childishly, he wishes for his brothers. For Raph’s solid frame to hide behind. For Donnie’s reassuring voice of reason grounding him. For Leo’s confidence to lean on like a pillar in the sea, stopping him from getting pulled under by the waves that threaten to drown him. Terror sweeps over him, because he is alone. ~ What starts out as a late night adventure in the woods beside the farmhouse turns deadly when a group of hunters catch Mikey off guard. Mikey thought he heard him give a soft exhale of breath. Don cast aside the wrench and slid his head and shoulders out from under the helicopter’s controls, sitting up fully to face his brother. For the first time in this conversation, he gave the entirety of his attention to Mikey, his eyes focused and worryingly serious.
