They always break the tension and make it easier to do what they need to do. So when Mikey isn't part of a mission, his family can't help but notice how empty their team felt. To make matters worse, the reason Mikey isn't part of their mission was because he was missing. |

| Mikey always liked this part of their patrols, when they would stay out just long enough to catch a glimpse of those vibrant colors. His eyes would be glued to the skyline where they should’ve been glued to the roof in front of them as they leaped across buildings. He would stumble and laugh when he jumped wrong while distracted, let his brothers gripe and moan about how ninja don’t watch sunrises...>>, but his eyes would always drift back to that gorgeous view. Not tonight, though. As much as he would love to watch the horizon, his head was killing him, and it took all of his concentration just to keep his legs moving as he and his brothers sprinted from building to building. Only one is going to walk away from this rooftop tonight, leaving behind the last spot of sun in the storm above them. ~ Donatello vowed that the future he had seen would never occur. He wouldn’t let it. But he’s failed. He’s failed, because Mikey is bleeding out beneath him, his arm severed under a stormy sky. And no help is coming in time. | For a turtle that had such little faith in the afterlife and the beyond and ghosts and ghouls and spirits, Donatello sure does linger a lot. Mikey finds it sad, though he doesn’t ever admit to it out loud. He’ll just find Donnie standing at the edges of the room, like he isn’t sure what to do with himself, hands twisting and feet shuffling and Mikey will watch him and smile and call out to hi...>>m like he’s really actually there. Raph and Leo will often accompany him together, rarely does he ever find them apart which he finds a touch ironic. Two brothers that spent a majority of their time at each other’s throats were now attached at the hip. Mikey finds that nice. He likes that whatever conflict that was always lit between them in life had seemingly fizzled out in the life beyond that. He hopes that wherever it is they are now that they’re okay and that they’re happy. |
