| Eragon and Murtagh have grown up together with their uncle Garrow and cousin Roran since childhood. One night, they discover two stones- one blue, one red. Eragon is barely 16, unprepared for the challenges ahead of them, and always getting into trouble. His dragon, Saphira, has her work cut out for her keeping him alive. But as their journey goes on, he finds his dreams plagued by a beautiful woman in terrible pain- a pain he must soon face himself. Murtagh is only just a man, worried that his younger brother is not ready for a life of war, and unsuspecting of his own origins. He and his dragon Thorn have plenty of things to keep an eye out for as their situation worsens. Though Murtagh thinks he understands the world, one of Galbatorix's hunters could shake everything he thought he knew. With the Varden just clinging on and their own lives dangling by a thread, the brothers are in for the fight of their lives. |

| Before Eragon left Alagaesia, he convinced Arya and Murtagh to come with him and search for a new home for the Dragon Riders together. Twenty years later they take their first students on a training exercise when they come across a wild dragon about to burn down a city of humans.
