He can hear Master Splinter’s voice added to the mix, always the mediator in their fights, his words are drowned out by Raph’s anger that spills out. Mikey hears Donnie chew him out, something about how himself and Mikey have been pulling their weight but what had Raph been doing to support their family?
And so comes more of that explosive tempter, something heavy and mean and cruel and so Mikey pulls Klunk a little closer to him, rolling over he buries his snout in her fur. She smells so much more better since he found her first.
“Sorry you had to be adopted by like, the worst family on earth,” Mikey mutters to her in a small voice. “Maybe Dee was right about you going to a proper home.”
Klunk mews, a confused little sound and Mikey sighs. He kisses the top of her head and she purrs, nuzzling into his touch, he manages a weak laugh.
“Yeah, I’m gonna be totally selfish, actually. You’re gonna have to put up with me forever I think,” he tells her, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Cos I ain’t giving you up for the world.” Another quick kiss between her ears. “Maybe I could send Raph to the shelter instead, huh?”
