In the end it all came down to a coincidence. It had merely been coincidence that Remus had been in Filius's office with him when Harry walked in with the Missing Rat poster. Granted, all things told it wasn't an especially unlikely coincidence, but there you were. Third in the Honey Bee 'verse.
