After the last Agni Kai, Princess Azula escapes the asylum she was confined in when a guard failed to do the usual chi-blocking. When no traces of her are seen for a year, the Fire Lord declares her dead. Eleven years later Prince Iroh sends a letter to a Fire Nation caught between the twin millstones of a reactionary camarilla of generals and spies and the doctrinaire revolutionary worker's movement known as the People's Will in response to rumors that the dead Princess somehow miraculously resurrected herself and is leading the so-called Committee for the Salvation of the Fire Nation. From good intentions, a remarkable drama ensues.
