“Sergeant Barnes, have you heard of the Time Variance Authority? They are responsible for maintaining the flow of time as you know it, they liaise with the Sorcerers Supreme to identify and apprehend anyone who diverts from that path significantly enough that it causes an alternate reality.”
Bucky’s head hurt.
“Okay,” he said slowly “but I haven’t diverted from my path, so why are you here in the middle of the night?”
“You haven’t, but Steve Rogers has.”
Or: Steve gets apprehended by the TVA while returning the stones, and Bucky has absolutely zero clue what to do about it.
Or: One of the many fix-it storylines the author has in her head because what in the ever loving hell was Steve's ending?!
