AU story: Maura has not been adopted by the Isles, and she and Jane meet in the end of elementary school in less-than-ideal conditions… This followed a very different path for me, but the idea was floating in my head for a long time, and once done I liked it enough to think others might also enjoy this unusual storyline. Family oriented. Classification for language/facts mentioned.
